Haruni in action

DSC_4040

Here’s one pic of my latest lace creation, the Haruni, being worn. Click the picture to see more images on my flickr account. My hubby snapped a few shots for me 🙂 Can you tell that I’m about half way in to baking a bun in my oven?? It is going by so fast this time!

Stay tuned for upcoming picks of the monster family. I finished the mommy and baby monster and started the kid monster, but it is turning out a little too big. So, my son told me to turn it into a Grammy monster… So that’s what I’m going to do. A little extra knitting is no problem right? It will actually complete our household if I make a Grammy one too. I figure these monsters will be good role playing toys for him to prep him for a sibling.

Anyhow, off to bed for me. I’m writing this blog with my hubby’s shiny new iPad that I got him for fathers day. It’s a fun toy, but I don’t think I will use it for future posts… Too hard to get all the links I want and I also can’t use all of bloggers compose features and a little hard to type with. Good nite all & happy dads day!

Finished my first lace shawl!

I finally finished my first lace shawl!  This is the Haruni pattern.  See this post for more details on the pattern and yarn used.  It was a fun project.  I’ve done one or two lace projects before and expected that this would be very difficult, but it actaully not bad at all as long as I had stitch markers, highlighter tape, and the pattern that had both charts and written out instructions!

Here are some more pics…

I’ll have to get my hubby to take some better photos, but that’s all for now.  I’m sick with a bad cold and despite my throbbing headache last night I had to weave in the ends and block it.  It was dry by this morning and I really love how it turned out.

Zombie BBQ!

Zombie BBQ

I’m itching to start knitting for this little baby that I am growing, but I don’t find out the gender until next week!  So, until then, I will work on a little monster for my little 3 1/2 year old monster.  I found this perfect colorway by Lorna’s Laces called Zombie BBQ – how appropriate!  AND it’s superwash which is a great feature to have for a stuffed animal.  I am a big fan of Loran’s Laces. I used their Greenline yarn for my Vine Yoke Cardigan and it was dreamy to work with… the only down side is that it’s a tad expensive at ~$20 a skein.  What can I say?  I’m a yarn snob.

I’m going to make a mommy, daddy, baby and kid monster – and I won’t be using Lorna’s Laces for all of those… we’d be looking at a $100 set of monster toys here!

Here’s the picture of the mommy and baby pattern by Rebecca Danger.  How freaking cute is that!!  She has a really cute funky style to her stuffed animals, I really love them.  I hope he likes them too.
